The Center for Family and Child Enrichment was founded in 1977 with a goal of "supporting the emotional well-being of families and children". In the ensuing years, we have held steadfastly to that goal by developing a vast array of child welfare and mental health services for children and families which meet the unique needs of our culturally diverse community. Our programs are aimed at empowering troubled families and children through supportive endeavors which seek to not only "treat them," but teach them ways to solve their own problems.
Each year our services touch the lives of nearly 5,000 children and families throughout Miami- Dade County. They are referred to us by schools, parents (foster and biological), and many other public and private institutions. We offer residential programs for youth who are unable to live at home, emergency shelters for short term "respite" from troubled families and a wide array of behavioral health services, including psychiatric and psychological evaluations, medication management, clinical assessment and therapy, targeted case management, and therapeutic foster homes. These services are available through Medicaid or through our sliding fee scale.
Our services to abused, neglected, and abandoned children include full case management for 800 children, recruitment, training and supervision of nearly 200 foster homes, adoption services, independent living services, and more.
Our services to families include home-based family counseling and case management, parenting skills classes, therapeutic visitation, and crisis intervention. Our parenting classes include an assessment and series of observations by a licensed clinician, as well as a mandatory parent support group following completion of twelve sessions of classes. These services are not only available to the families in our full case management program, but are available to clients of other agencies for a nominal fee.
We provide services to truant, runaway and homeless teenagers who are at odds with their parents for various reasons. These include counseling and shelter services.
Our staff reflects the cultural and linguistic diversity of South Florida. We employ more than 200 social workers, residential workers, case managers, therapists, etc. All are exceptionally qualified by both education and experience. Additionally, they bring a "passion" for services to families and children in crisis.
